Few free-to-play MMORPGs are as highly anticipated as “Riders of Icarus,” by “Nexon America” and “WeMade Entertainment.” In a market absolutely flooded with games of the same genre and don’t cost a thing to play, the mount-focused title has garnered more attention than its competitors. With the game entering its open beta phase, PC gamers can finally take “Riders of Icarus” for a spin, flight or sprint, depending on which mount they have.
The open beta for the game went live on Wednesday, according to the Inquistr. The game focuses on gameplay revolving around the concept of fighting alongside beasts that the players will mount. Where in other MMORPGs, mounts were either a means of getting around or just to show off to other players, “ROI” specifically includes the mounts as central characters in the game.
The mounts include wolves, dragons, and even winged horses that resembled the Greek myth Pegasus. Aerial battles will be a core aspect in the game as well, with players fighting bosses and other players on their flying steeds. Fans of dungeon crawling and ground combat shouldn’t worry, however, as they will still be featured prominently in the game.
At the moment, the game still has a lot of bugs that need fixing, which is why the level cap is locked at 25. Once the bugs have been fixed, the cap will increase to 35, which grants access to other areas of the game.
PC players can go to the official website of Nexon to try their hand at the open beta. Also, as Gameranx emphasizes, there are some changes to the gameplay of “ROI” that are designed to make the fights smoother as well as to make the gameplay more seamless. The new trailer for the game will feature many of these changes as well as shows how far the game has come since its announcement.
